Job Responsibilities
TASC is looking for a Human Experimental Psychologist. The qualified applicant will become part of TASCs highly skilled multi-disciplinary team of physicists, biomedical engineers, vision scientists, biologists, and other specialists on the Optical Radiation Bioeffects and Safety Program. This is a $35 million, 78-month contract to conduct research on the personnel effects of lasers and broadband optical technologies, ranging from collateral risks from high-energy lasers to non-lethal applications for force protection and homeland security. The work is conducted for the Air Force Research Laboratory in the Tri-Service Research Laboratory located at Joint Base San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston, TX.
This position will support a basic research program within the Air Force Office of Scientific Research Trust and Influence portfolio, which seeks to provide the empirical foundation for the science of reliance and contemporary influence in operational military settings. The research is focused on the science of influence effects, particularly the psychological and behavioral effect of non-traditional technologies (e.g., non-lethal weapons, directed-energy) on individuals, and on understanding the cognitive and social avenues of influence in different cultural groups.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Develop behavioral models based upon valid psychological theories on approach-avoidance, cognitive representation, decision-making, and socio-cultural factors.
Perform literature reviews and use analytical methods to select best behavioral models for application in numerical models.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology, Experimental Psychology, or Social Psychology, plus 1-2 years of experience in experimental work in a laboratory environment is required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance is required.
Strong fundamental understanding of basic human behavioral theory including but not limited to physiological, learning, cognitive, and/or social psychology is required.
Strong fundamental understanding of statistical methods is preferred.
Development experience as an intern, employee, or volunteer is preferred.
Experience in working with a multi-disciplinary team is preferred.
